Female heroines in the selected Marleen Gorris' films
Vlasáková, Klára ; BENDOVÁ, Helena (advisor) ; KAJÁNKOVÁ, Lucia (referee)
The master’s thesis focuses on three selected films by a Dutch filmmaker Marleen Gorris (A Question of Silence [De stilte rond Christine M.], Antonia, and Mrs. Dalloway). The text examines the way the film female characters are depicted, their relationship to the patriarchal society they live in and the forms of their possible resistance to a given social order. An ideological analysis used for that purpose enables to explore both values, beliefs or prejudices of a certain content, as well as motivation and power relationships the content is based on.
The media arts centre FACT and a study on its collaboration with an artist on an example of the Separate Systém film
Kovandová, Alžběta ; TŘEŠTÍKOVÁ, Helena (advisor) ; KRATOCHVÍL, Jaroslav (referee)
FACT (Foundation for Art and Creative Technology) is a charity media arts centre in Liverpool, UK. It is an institution where multiple art and creative activities take place. FACT consists of three galleries, a cinema, a video-production department and a café. Furthermore, many workshops and social activities take place here as FACT aims to engage local communities in its programme. This is achieved through collaboration with local artists, who create their artwork with the support of FACT, and who engage various demographic groups such as children, war veterans or the elderly in their work. One of those programmes is the Veterans in practice (VIP) which aims to help the veterans. In collaboration with Liverpool’s veterans and FACT, the director Katie Davies has created a film called The Separate System about veterans who have found themselves in prison after leaving the armed forces. This bachelors’ thesis shows the history and operations of FACT and its respective departments. In the second part, it addresses the topic of war veterans and shows how the collaboration between FACT, the artist and the veterans works on an example of The Separate System film and activities of the Veterans In Practice programme. This thesis is based on not only literature and internet sources but also on interviews between the author and employees of FACT and the director Katie Davies.

Nguyen, Cam Van ; VANDAS, Martin (advisor) ; DĚCKÁ, Eliška (referee)
Animated documentary film is relatively a new genre, which is presently growing and becoming more popular. Simple definition of this genre is animated film with standard elements taken from documentary films. There is true confession, emotional strength, and unlimited borders, which animation provides. This growing sub-genre of animated film is asking existential questions. How does this kind of animated documentary film usually look? Almost everytime it is a topic of the stories from the real world, for example: topics of human rights, topics exceptional but also universal, which can be very easy to identify. This thesis is specifically focuses on the topic of personal confessions, that tell their own story. I also had to deal with this topic when I was doing my bachelor animated documentary film and at the end of it I summarize it with my personal evaluation and experiences.

FIilmy Lucrecii Martel
Ortiz Cordero, Edgar Josue ; BERGAN, Ronald (advisor) ; BENDOVÁ, Helena (referee)
Historical roots of the conemporary minimalistic cinema
Böhm, Michal ; HOLÝ, Zdeněk (advisor) ; BOUDA, Marek (referee)
Mimalism represents a film style which still partially predominates on the contemporary art festivals although it reached its peak during in the beginning of the 21. century. Minimalism is a style which supresses the pallete of formalistic tools, expressive elements and typical narative structures and drama. It also works extensively with time and the depiction of everyday. Minimalistic cinema experience thus stimulates the audience to make their own interpretations of the story and the form altogether. The aim of this work is to analyze those historical cinema tendencies that bear most resemblance to the modern style of minimalism. I consider these films (and styles) to be the most predetermenative to the style of minimalism: Italian neorealism, spiritual work of Ozu and Bresson, experimental structural movies, the cinematic masterpiece Jean Dielman, 23 Commerce Quay, 1080 Brussels from Chantal Akerman and Antonionis movies with their narative structure.

I try to analyze whether there are active or passive heroines, whether they decide by themselves or let others to decide for them. I try to identify ways which create this activity (or passivity).
Women in the "European journey film" - a journey to oneself?
Ziegler, Fiona Gelsomina ; BERNARD, Jan (advisor) ; ŘEZNÍČEK, Martin (referee)
In this thesis, I aim to examine the ?female character based narration? of Agn?s Varda?s films Cléo from 5-7 and Vagabond within the context of the ?European Journey Film? and within examining my own diploma film, that I shot as a 30 minute long journey film in Israel. Through the analysis of Varda?s films, I aim to gain a better understanding of how to develop and deal with the internal and external transformation or non-transformation of a main character throughout the narration, its construction, theme and film-language. After opting for defining the sub-genre of the American Road Movie as European Journey Film, I?ll analyse a certain female perspective on the genre by analysing two films of Agn?s Varda?s by self-reflecting my own female character of my journey movie in the conclusion of this thesis.
Erotics in Jane Campions films
Nedvědová, Kristina ; DUFEK, Jiří (advisor) ; MRAVCOVÁ, Marie (referee)
In b.a. work, I would like to analyze look healthy feminist view of the author's creation of director Jane Campion, who openly admits female desire, but it is still about erotica, not porn. I want to describe the author's style, which in my opinion, poetry beautifully balances the female perception of the world, as well as his "darker" exciting, often neglected page. The analysis will be based on the literature of authors such as Laura Mulvey, Visual and other pleasures, visual pleasure and narrative film) Roland Barthes - Pleasure of the Text Witold Gombrowicz - Our erotic drama Peter Hanáková - Pandora's Box
